Removing the plank out of our eyes!

Ladies and gentlemen,

In support of comments made by my Facebook friend Cross Light (below),  I made the following statement.  Please feel free to comment.

Words from Cross Light:
"It is really disheartening to see the ministers of God and the leaders of his flock being the most frazzled and the least Christ like in this time when Godly wisdom and spiritual answers need to be heard and shared. How real is your ministry if in times like this when the world is watching us fall into chaos that our men of God are so caught up in racial angst that they forget to be citizens of the Kingdom. You all need to repent and compose yourselves...immediately! We do not look at all like peculiar people when we bask in outrage and anarchy but claim to have the peace that passes all understanding."

Obviously we have to consider each word that proceeds out of our mouths (fingers), during this sensitive time.

I would like you to take a moment and step back and consider this. No other culture in the world would routinely blame a particular race of people for its daily problems, but then when they decide to fight the system of oppression;  they choose to self destruct and destroy their own homes and communities.  Why? Is there some particular reason that we fail to choose education and intelligence as weapons? We have to greatest weapon of all, and that is the Word of God. Because we are even less educated about what it means,  we continue to beat ourselves.

I continue to say, yes racial issues exist. But, look at the statistics;  how many people often set the conditions for what happens to them. Is the system stacked against young black males who commit minor criminal offenses, yes. But the question is, why. Why are so many young men, black, white, hispanic, etc., choosing to forego a life of responsibility and civility? This is deeper than race. We must get back to Christ, family, morals and love. These foundations would lessen the environments where our young people give reasons for people to pay attention to them (i.e. standing on the street corners, pants sagging,  dropping out of high school and unwed child birth).

We have got to consider where we fit in. There are ways to fight this.
